My Approach & Techniques

At the heart of my practice is a holistic and trauma-informed approach that honors the unique experiences and identities of each client. I integrate a variety of therapeutic techniques to address the diverse needs of my clients, ensuring a personalized and effective therapy experience.

Here are some of the frameworks that will guide our work together:

  • Through creative modalities like painting, drawing, sculpting, music, and movement, expressive arts therapy helps clients explore and express their emotions in a non-verbal, creative way. This approach can be particularly effective for individuals dealing with anxiety, trauma, grief, and identity issues, providing a safe space for self-discovery and healing.

  • Narrative therapy focuses on the stories we tell about our lives. By re-authoring these narratives, clients can shift their perspectives, develop a stronger sense of identity, and create empowering and positive self-narratives. This technique is useful for clients dealing with depression, anxiety, and life transitions.

  • Utilizing photography and visual storytelling, phototherapy allows clients to explore personal narratives and self-image. This method can be especially beneficial for individuals working on self-esteem, body image issues, and identity exploration.

  • EMDR is an evidence-based technique used to address trauma and PTSD. By processing distressing memories and reducing their emotional impact, clients can find relief from the symptoms of trauma and build resilience.

  • IFS helps clients explore and understand their inner parts or subpersonalities. This approach is particularly effective for addressing internal conflicts, trauma, and attachment issues, fostering greater self-awareness and healing.

  • ACT helps clients accept difficult emotions and thoughts rather than fighting them, and commit to making changes that align with their values. This technique is effective for managing anxiety, depression, and stress, promoting psychological flexibility and mindfulness.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on understanding and transforming emotional experiences. This approach is particularly helpful for clients dealing with relationship issues, trauma, and emotional regulation, enabling them to process and express emotions in a healthy way.

  • CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It is an evidence-based approach effective for treating a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress. Through CBT, clients learn practical strategies to manage their thoughts and behaviors.

  • DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. It is particularly effective for individuals with emotion regulation issues, borderline personality disorder, and self-destructive behaviors. DBT focuses on building skills in distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
